GEO glossary

llms.txt

llms.txt is a proposed plain-text file, placed at the root of a website, that tells AI systems what the site is about and points them to its most important content in a machine-readable form. It is an emerging convention for making a site legible to LLMs.

It complements, rather than replaces, robots.txt and sitemaps, and signals that a site has considered how AI systems consume it.
